Calendula officinalis is a beautiful flower that thrives in many different climates which gives us a clue as to how adaptable and useful this plant is. The deeply pigmented flower petals, which protect the plant from the sun's rays, are resinous and used topically to soothe red, inflamed, dry skin, such as skin that also been exposed to the sun's rays. It is also used internally to support red, inflamed mucous membrane tissue, such as what lines our gastrointestinal tract.
Calendula offers astringent, tissue support in cases of impaired skin integrity inside and out. We harvest the flowers at the peak of their flowering cycle, dry them and use in this tincture as well as oil.
We make the tincture from our recently dried flowers at a ratio of 1:5. Each mL of tincture contains the equivalent of approximately 200 mg of dried herb.
