When we first learned about Bitter Melon and its bitter flavor with resulting digestive and metabolic impacts, we knew that we wanted to grow and get to know this plant better. We've now been growing this plant for over a decade in a tiny patch of our greenhouse vining up a trellis or in some years, out in the field and sprawling out far into the surrounding plants. We harvest the fruit young, slice and dry them, and make into a potent bitter tincture that can used alone or in digestive bitters formulas.
We make the tincture from dried fruit that we grow at the farm at a ratio of 1:5. Each mL of tincture contains the equivalent of approximately 200 mg of fresh herb.
