Lycopus americanus, otherwise known as Bugleweed or Water Horehound, is grown in the wettest field that we have and comes back every year from the mucky soil with small white flowers and delicate leaves that we harvest in early summer.
Closely related to Motherwort and Skullcap, other non-aromatic mint relatives, this herb is used for people that struggle with thyroid imbalance with elevated heart rate. Bugleweed is contraindicated in hypothyroidism and pregnancy.
We make the tincture from fresh flowering tops of the plants at a ratio of 1:2. Each mL of tincture contains the equivalent of approximately 500 mg of fresh herb.
