Herbal Bittersweet Syrup with Bold Flavor
Our Wild Quinine Simple Syrup features Parthenium integrifolium, a native herb known for its naturally bitter, mineral-rich qualities. Unlike traditional tonic ingredients made from imported Cinchona bark, wild quinine has long served as a homegrown alternative used by Indigenous herbalists. We grow wild quinine right here on our farm, where its bright summer blooms support a wide range of native pollinators like sweat bees, mining bees, and beneficial flies. It’s a hardy, sustainable plant that thrives in tough conditions. This syrup balances the grounded bitterness of wild quinine with raw organic cane sugar and a touch of citrus. It brings a sharp, earthy edge to all kinds of drinks and dishes, and is an easy way to add complexity and a sense of the wild to whatever you’re mixing up.

Linda (MSN, RN) and Eric started Bluestem Botanicals in 2008 with a mission to connect people to plants for food, for medicine and for a more resilient collective future.
All of their products are hand grown, harvested, and manufactured on their small farm in Pennsylvania.
Their mission and their passion for their herbs comes through in every bottle, tincture, and bag they produce.
Directions for Use
Add 1 tablespoon to 16oz of seltzer water for a refreshing herbal soda.
Use in replacement of standard simple syrup in traditional cocktail or dessert recipes for a delicious twist.
